Are your microgreens organic?

Our microgreens are grown using sustainable practices and without any synthetic pesticides or chemicals. While we may not have organic certification yet, we strictly follow organic principles to ensure the highest quality and safety for our consumers.

What’s the difference between microgreens and sprouts?

Microgreens are grown in soil or any other growing medium and harvested right after the first set of true leaves develop. Sprouts, on the other hand, are germinated seeds that are harvested before leaves form and are typically grown in water. Microgreens are richer in flavor and nutrients than sprouts, mostly due to the nutrition provided in soil/aquaponic fertilizer .

Do microgreens need to be washed before eating?

We recommend giving microgreens a quick rinse under cold water before eating. However, our microgreens are grown in a clean environment and are carefully handled during harvesting to minimize any contamination risk.

What microgreens are best for salads, sandwiches, or smoothies?

Salads: Try pea shoots, sunflower, and kale for an added crunch and flavor.

Sandwiches: Radish and mustard microgreens provide a dekicious spicy kick.

Smoothies: Wheatgrass, kale, and broccoli microgreens offer a massive nutrient and even detoxifying boost without overpowering the flavor.

How are your microgreens grown?

Our microgreens are grown in a controlled environment using sustainable and organic methods. We use clean growing trays, high quality organic soils and growing mediums, and filtered water to ensure the best possible growing conditions.

Are microgreens safe for children and pets?

Yes! Microgreens are a nutrient-dense food that’s not only safe for children but infact incredibly beneficial for physical growth and cognitive health/developement. However, some spicy varieties like mustard and radish may be too intense for sensitive palates. While microgreens are generally safe for pets, it’s always good to consult your vet before introducing them into your pet’s diet.

Do you offer delivery or pickup?

We offer local delivery within Newark Delaware, Middletown Delaware and the surrounding areas. We don’t currently offer pickup options, but they will be an option soon. However, you can also contact us about it directly if you have interest. Delivery details will be provided at checkout, Contact us directly for more information!

How does the subscription service work?

Our subscription service allows you to receive fresh microgreens on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis. After signing up, you’ll receive an email confirming your order and delivery schedule.

Can I modify or cancel my subscription?

Yes! You can modify or cancel your subscription at any time by logging into your account or contacting us directly. We ask that you give at least 48 hours' notice before your next scheduled delivery for any changes to take effect.

Can anyone sign up for the subscription service?

We currently screen all subscription requests to ensure we can deliver to your location. Once you submit a subscription request, we’ll review it and notify you if you’re within our delivery area!

Is there a minimum subscription size or order amount?

Yes – the minimum subscription size and order amount will be listed at checkout. Everything is planned out to make sure you get the freshest microgreens possible!

How quickly will I receive my first subscription delivery?

Once your subscription is approved, you’ll receive your first delivery within 14 days depending on our growing schedule and availability. We are very easily reached in case of any issues!

What happens if I’m not home during delivery?

If you’re not home during delivery, we’ll leave your microgreens in a secure, shaded spot. You’ll receive a notification once delivery is complete.

❄️ Storage & Handling

How should I store microgreens?

Keep microgreens in their original container, sealed tightly, and store them in the refrigerator at 35°F to 40°F. This will help retain moisture and keep them crisp. Also make sure there is a food safe paper towel under and above your greens inside the container. Replace the paper towel every time it gets moist. This will ensure the longest possible shelf life!

How long do microgreens last?

Microgreens generally last 10–14 days when properly stored in the refrigerator. Sunflower and pea shoots may last slightly longer, while more delicate greens like basil may have a shorter shelf life. As previously stated, make sure there is a food safe paper towel under and above your greens inside the container. Replace the paper towel every time it gets moist. This will ensure the longest possible shelf life!

Can I freeze microgreens?

We don’t recommend freezing microgreens, as it will affect their texture and flavor. However, heartier varieties like wheatgrass can be juiced and then frozen for later use in smoothies.

What’s the best way to revive microgreens if they start to wilt?

If your microgreens start to wilt, place them in a bowl of cold water for a few minutes, then drain and store them back in the fridge. This will help them regain a bit of their crispness.

What are the health benefits of microgreens?

Microgreens are packed with nutrients like vitamins A, C, and K, as well as antioxidants and minerals. They are also rich in chlorophyll and may help support digestion, immunity, and overall health. Microgreens can have anywhere from 40-260x the nutrient density of their mature counterparts.

Can I really get MORE health benefits from eating less greens by eating microgreens??

Yes you sure can! Studies have shown that Microgreens contain anywhere from 40 to 260 times more nutrients than their fully grown counterparts. For instance, some varieties like Red Acre Cabbage pack up to 260 times the nutrient density, making Microgreens one of the most efficient ways to boost your daily intake of essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Are microgreens gluten-free?

Yes! Microgreens are naturally gluten-free. However, if you have a severe gluten allergy, check for any cross-contamination risks in your growing medium.

Can I eat microgreens raw or should they be cooked?

Microgreens are best enjoyed raw to preserve their delicate flavor and nutrient content. You can add them to hot dishes just before serving, but avoid cooking them as they can wilt quickly.

Can I modify or cancel my order after placing it?

Yes, you can modify or cancel your order within 24 hours of placing it. Since we grow microgreens to order, any changes or cancellations after this period may not be possible. Please contact us as soon as possible at minileafde@gmail.com if you need to make changes.
